Fire at Geest site

Geest PLC, which is an associated company to Bakkavör Group, announced today that a fire which began late last night has destroyed two facilities making pasta and speciality bread at its Barton-on-Humber site. No one working at the site was hurt. The fire has been brought under control.

One other bread making facility on the site is undamaged, but not currently manufacturing.  A site at Scunthorpe, which also produces pasta, remains fully operational.  Customers have been made aware of the situation.

The two facilities represent less than 10% of Geest´s assets and contribute around 6% of Group turnover.  Geest is insured against such losses.
