Administration

Administration plays a key role within any team. To be successful as an administrator at one of our busy sites, planning and organisation will need to be a part of your DNA.

This is a supporting function to our teams and a fantastic foundation to see where your career can take you within Bakkavor. Collating information and relaying it in the correct format will require a great deal of attention to detail. It is virtually impossible to be completely autonomous in any role, meaning the Administrator’s role will depend on other colleagues and vice versa. Therefore an element of self-discipline is required in ensuring delivery on specified time lines.

Commercial

A linchpin to building our business with our customers, a career in Commercial at Bakkavor is both exciting and rewarding as you are the face of Bakkavor to the UK’s largest grocery retailers.

Team work, trust, energy and strategic thinking all have a role to play in a successful commercial career path with six defined steps from Commercial Executive to Head of Commercial. As a member of our Commercial team you will work across a multitude of fresh prepared categories and/or customers. You are closely linked to our manufacturing sites and will develop a clear understanding of manufacturing principles, our end-to-end supply chain and the importance of planning. You will also become closely aligned to our finance, procurement and operational teams. Understanding our costs and performance from total business to individual products, the impacts of promotional strategies on market share and factory performance & providing outstanding customer service all play a factor in your role. Customer insight is at the heart of all we do, therefore defining and delivering our category propositions can only be done through working closely with our Marketing and Development colleagues- this defines our ‘natural work team’ and thrives on mutual inter-dependence. Development

A Development role within Bakkavor requires creativity and a passion for food.

You should have the ability to take chef-inspired ideas and transform them into commercially viable products as well as supporting and assisting development teams across the Group. Efficiency, consistency and an eye for detail will be key factors required for conducting market research and developing new products for customer-specific needs.

Finance

Where finance can drive real change.

The finance function at Bakkavor is an integral part of our business, our finance teams work closely with other departments and have a key role in our day-to-day operations and decision making. Being a large, publicly-listed company we can offer you a breadth of experience, ranging from corporate reporting and investor relations to working with commercial teams to develop our next exciting product range. Do you wish to make a real difference? With our culture of empowerment individuals can make improvements and drive real change in their individual roles. There are opportunities to work in one of our food manufacturing sites as either a Financial Controller or an Accountant representing one of three main finance areas. Our Group Finance function roles have the career opportunities that you would expect from a publicly-listed company whilst at the same time offering a wide choice of roles and possible career paths. A number of our roles require you to have a recognised industry qualification i.e. AAT, ACA, ACCA or CIMA. Marketing

At Bakkavor we put the consumer at the heart of our business, and in the Marketing team we are continuously reviewing the trends to inspire and inform our exciting innovation plans with our customers.

We work with the UK’s largest food retailers to understand the journey that products you see on their shelves have been on, from identifying an initial market trend or consumer need, through to scanning it at the checkout, taking it home and when it is eaten. We work closely with our commercial and development teams to provide market and consumer insights which influence the development of exciting and innovative ranges that you see on supermarket shelves. Though research and analysis of various data we gain an understanding of what makes shoppers tick, why they choose to shop where they do and ultimately why they purchase the products that end up on their plates. We have a structured career path, which enables individuals to grow and develop through working in our Insight, Customer or Futures team, or a combination of all three. This enables our team to gain expertise in both identifying and reviewing market, shopper and customer insights, as well as working directly with our retail customer teams to ensure the right products are in the right place and communicated to shoppers in the right way.

Procurement

Technical

Do you have a keen eye for detail, a particular interest in the scientific and technical aspects of food manufacture? Do you enjoy working with and motivating other people?

In a Technical role in Bakkavor you will be working together with colleagues in many different factory departments to develop and manufacture high quality, nutritious and delicious food products for our customers and consumers. Your job will play a key part in ensuring every single product we make is safe, legal and meets our customers’ requirements. You are likely to have a natural interest and aptitude for science, and may have studied Food Science or General Science at degree level, but just as importantly will have the ability to get on with people from varied walks of life, and enjoy working with them to achieve common goals. Practicality and attention to detail are key strengths and you will definitely have a desire to continue learning and developing your skills. There are many different roles in Technical so the ability to take on new challenges and develop the career you want is always there. Typical roles to start in could be Quality Auditor (where you will have responsibility for monitoring compliance with technical standards and helping your colleagues to resolve any issues identified), Process Technologist (involving the safe development of new product concepts into real products) or in Technical Systems (helping develop and maintain due diligence systems for the business). As you gain experience and knowledge ultimately you could reach the role of Technical Manager and be responsible for the whole Technical team on your own manufacturing site. The choice is yours …

Our biggest workforce and key to our success.

Our Production Operatives are at the heart of our business enabling us to deliver what we say we will. We are proud of our diverse, multi-cultural workforce with over 90 different cultures working together as one team. Our Production Operatives handle our freshly-sourced ingredients with care, ensuring we have a delicious end result every time. We manufacture to tight deadlines often delivering large orders in 24 hours 364 days a year. Keeping products fresh takes some planning and involves great commitment from our Production teams.

Hygiene

Our Hygiene teams provide more than just a cleaning service.

The role is technical in the sense of managing customer and audit requirements, but also encompasses managing and motivating teams of people to provide the best possible service. Our Hygiene colleagues play a pivotal role in our factories. They carefully dismantle and assemble our sophisticated machinery ensuring they are hosed down, cleaned and maintained to a high standard. Distribution & Warehouse

Delivering on time, every time!

It takes great planning, packing and timing to ensure our fresh prepared products are ready for our customers so that they have the right products on shelf and at the right time. Our colleagues in our distribution and warehouse team manage complex supply chains across road, sea, air and rail and across multiple countries. This involves inbound raw materials and the delivery of our finished products through our own distribution centres from which third party hauliers collect our customers’ products - it’s a tall order and it’s vital to get it right.
