Bakkavor are looking for talented and motivated undergraduates to join us on a 12-month Year-in-Industry placement, in order to gain valuable experience in the fast-paced and exciting food industry!

We offer functional Placements in Food Technology and Finance. Applications for our 2022 Industrial Placement Programme are now closed

What we’ll offer you

Reward Package

Annual Salary - £19,000
Relocation Financial Assistance

A Support & Development Network
  • A Buddy to help introduce you to the business
  • An Early Careers Team to coordinate the programme and offer advice
  • You’ll join as a Cohort, with up to 10 other undergraduate placements students, and also are likely to interact with those on the Graduate Programmes
  • A Line Manager who will complete regular performance reviews and support you through a skills chart checklist of experience
Future Opportunities
  • Whilst this is a 1-year Placement, providing you have performed well, we will consider working with you to identify roles in the business, or on the graduate programme, once you complete your degree

What you’ll need to apply

Calling all ‘Foodies’! The most important thing for us is a motivated attitude and clear value alignment to our business, and a passion for working and gaining experience in the food industry.

We do have some criteria that we will be looking for – you’ll need these to pass our assessment screening process:

  • Are currently studying for an honour’s degree or equivalent qualification
    • For Food Technology Placements, we look for a technical, food related or science-based degree
  • A ‘right to work’ in the UK
  • A clearly articulated motivation to progress your career and gain experience in the food industry and for your chosen area
  • Flexibility in location in order to relocate for the placement, if necessary
  • Undergraduates who align to the Bakkavor Values
  • A level of business and commercial acumen
  • A preference is for candidates to have a driving license due to our remote locations for some placements

Top Tips

  • Be yourself! It’s important you demonstrate to us your great qualities so we can see your fit for our Placement programme, we want to get the best out of you
  • Take your time! It’s a busy period for you, but getting things is right is something we believe in. Relax, and set aside enough time to complete each stage
  • Show your passion! We love to meet passionate undergraduates who have a desire to progress in their careers
  • Having a passion for food or the supply of food is important to all our programmes
  • Ask Questions. At the assessment centre stage, you’ll have the opportunity to meet with key contacts, a great opportunity to get to know the programme in more detail
  • Come to a Careers Fair! We’ll be coming to various career fairs across the UK. Come and meet us so we can bring our programmes to life for you
  • Video Reflections. Choose an appropriate environment, read the questions carefully and give it your best shot. Don’t worry too much about this, it's more simple than you think and imagine you’re talking to a fellow undergraduate

We value the opportunity to offer industrial placements. Not only do these placements reinforce some of our university partnerships, but they also offer a valuable introduction to a career in the food industry. We also recognise that Placement students are a pipeline for future roles within the business and/or the Graduate Programme.
