Bakkavor Group Limited ("the Company"), the leading international provider of fresh prepared foods, is pleased to announce that Denis Hennequin and Simon Burke will be joining the Board of the Company as Non-Executive Directors.
Denis has extensive leadership experience within the retail sector, spending the majority of his career with McDonald’s Corporation in a variety of senior financial and operational roles before becoming President and Chief Executive Officer Europe, where he was responsible for changing the image and concept of McDonalds’s Europe and securing its market leading position. Denis was appointed Chairman and CEO of Accor in 2011 where he was responsible for an estate spread across over 90 countries. He left Accor in 2013 to pursue an advisory and portfolio career. Denis is currently a Non-Executive Director of Eurostar International Limited, John Lewis Partnership plc and SSP Group plc.
Simon Burke is a chartered accountant with over 30 years’ experience in the retail and food sectors. Following a decade in audit and advisory roles, Simon was appointed CEO of Virgin Retail UK in 1998, where he held a number of senior financial and strategic positions before being appointed CEO of Virgin Entertainment Group in 1996. In 1999, Simon was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive of Hamleys plc where he completed a successful restructuring and subsequent sale of the company. In 2003, Simon left to specialise in value creation roles, sitting on the Boards of several quoted companies, including Mitchells & Butlers plc and Majestic Wine plc, as well as a number of privately owned and private equity backed companies. Simon is currently a Non-Executive Director of the Co-operative Group Limited and the British Broadcasting Corporation. He is also Chairman of The Light Cinemas (Holdings) Limited and Blue Diamond Limited.

In the UK, we are the number one producer by value in 12 of the 16 categories of chilled food we supply to the market. Products include ready meals, pizzas, salads, desserts, soups and sauces.
Our customers include some of the UK’s best known grocery retailers including Tesco, Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Asda and The Co-op, who sell our products to consumers under their respective retailer brands.
We also have operations in the US and Asia supplying fresh prepared food products to both retail and foodservice customers.
