Bakkavor’s Group Services employees nominate charities that have made a personal difference to their own families and are close to their heart. The amount was raised through various activities including quizzes, sporting sweepstakes and Christmas lunches.

Blood bikes provide an out-of-hours courier service transporting essential medical items such as blood, pathology and microbiology specimens, medical notes, pharmaceutical products and donor breast milk between hospitals and healthcare facilities. This service is offered completely free of charge. LEBBS were formed in January 2012, initially covering Boston and Grantham Hospitals. The service was then extended to include Lincoln County Hospital and more recently Scunthorpe, Grimsby and Goole Hospitals which means its delivery range includes, but is not limited to, Hull Royal Infirmary and the regional NHS Blood and Transplant Centre in Sheffield.

Paul Bagwel, LEBBS Chairman, who received the donation at Spalding, said: “On behalf of LEBBS we’d like to say thank you very much for your kind donation. It will continue to help support the NHS in the future.”

Jo Cullen, representing the Bakkavor office at Spalding said: “It is really important to us that we support a charity that provides essential services for the people that work alongside us who are personally affected by difficult life circumstances. We hope our fundraising efforts can help LEBBS continue with the fabulous work it does across our county”.
